Today’s article will focus on a few recent changes made to the Halo App, which primarily relate to the new-and-improved Pet Card UI design featured in the latest app update.
Pet Card Redesign
This user-friendly redesign makes it easy to identify how recently each piece of information on the Pet Card was updated. The card also features improved toggle buttons for better ease-of-use.
Status Updates
Your Halo Collar works autonomously in real time. However, it reports its location to your phone at varying frequencies depending on what kind of connection you have. When connected over WiFi, your collar sends location updates to your phone approximately every seven seconds; when connected over LTE, your collar sends these updates approximately every 15-30 seconds. When paired with Bluetooth, live updates are continuously sent directly from the collar to the phone. This new design lets you know how up-to-date the data is on the Pet Card. Pet activity status has been moved from the Pet Card to the Tracking charts (more information on this move below).
Weak GPS
The “Weak GPS” status has been updated to either show “Indoor GPS” or “Outdoor GPS” status. Your collar attempts to recognize whether it is inside or outside of your home based on its GPS readings. The collar makes this determination automatically, and will show this status on the Pet Card. Our development team will continue to make improvements to this algorithm and release them in the coming weeks.
Tracking Charts
Although the in-progress activity status (i.e. “resting”, “active”, “in car”) was removed from the main Pet Card, historical tracking information is still available within the “Tracking for Today” and “Stats for Today” sections of the Pet Card for Silver and Gold Plan users.
Battery Saver Improvements
The Pet Card will no longer feature “Battery Saver” as a collar mode option. Starting with a recently-released version of the firmware (version 0.1.54), the collar now self-regulates its power consumption, ensuring optimal battery life based on your usage patterns. As a result, “Battery Saver” mode is no longer needed and has been removed from the Pet Card. Your collar will no longer appear ‘outdated’ under normal operation.
Thank you for your patience and support as we continue to improve the Halo Collar for you and your dog.
